For this convening of the Sustaining DH Institute, we will be actively recruiting participants from the Upper Midwest to the Mid-Atlantic United States (the greater region surrounding Southwestern Pennsylvania). The day-by-day schedule planned for all workshops may be found at this link, or by using the “Daily Workshop Schedule” entry in the main menu.
For a more general description of the Sustaining DH Institute (an NEH Institute for Advanced Topics in the Digital Humanities), please see our project’s homepage. A list of all five of the sites chosen for the Sustaining DH Institute, as well as the dates scheduled for their workshops, may be found on the homepage as well as the main menu.
Should you have any questions about the workshops or the application process, please do not hesitate to be in touch with this workshop’s facilitators, Alison Langmead and Aisling Quigley, at email@example.com. We are also holding weekly “virtual office hours” Tuesdays from 10am-12pm and Wednesdays from 3-5 pm during which we will be available to answer questions about both this NEH-funded Institute and also any digital-humanities-focused sustainability questions you might have. We are in the Digital Humanities Slack in the #sustaining channel or on Humanities Commons at https://hcommons.org/groups/sustaining-digital-projects/.
The University of Pittsburgh is located in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh. The campus is approximately a thirty minute drive from the Pittsburgh International Airport. There is also a bus (the 28X Airport Flyer, a Port Authority bus) that travels between campus and the airport and takes about an hour and 15 minutes from door to door. The 28X runs on the half-hour between 4:30 am and 12 am ($3.50 per ticket, approximately). Pittsburgh is also teeming with ride-sharing options (including Uber and Lyft).
There are two overnight parking options close to Bouquet Gardens:
Soldiers and Sailors Garage
Address: 4215 5th Avenue, Pittsburgh PA 15213

NOTE: The neighborhood of Oakland is very busy during business hours; this means the garages can sometimes fill up. Once you get a space we recommend that you NOT move your car during the day.
